While gardening by the moon’s cycles may sound like a bit of folklore, the concept has some science behind it. Planting by the moon can actually make your plants more productive. When it comes to soil moisture, however, i’m afraid that gravity would not likely be a contributing factor, as least, not one that would change with the phases of the moon.
A much stronger force would be the capillary action between water and your soil. 2) Moon Phases The phase of the moon is determined by where the Moon is relative to the Earth.
Match the soil and the plantings. If your soil is acidic and your chosen plants need alkaline soil, you’re in for a struggle. See our pH preferences chart.

Moon phase gardening considers four phases or quarters lasting about seven days each. The first two quarters are during the waxing or increasing light, from the new moon and growing up to the full moon. The moon doesn’t have soil.
Soil by definition has an organic component. The lunar regolith is probably lacking in several key compounds necessary to support plant growth on its own.
If mixed with these necessary components and organic material from earth, to make a hybrid lunar soil, it probably could grow at least some plants.
